    History

    The Sadar Court building at Suri was built in the year, 1868 and started functioning with four Chowki i.e Suri, Rampurhat, Bolpur and Dubrajpur. In the year 1971 after amalgamation of criminal Jurisdiction, the criminal court came under the judiciary, the courts of Judicial Magistrate were established and started functioning at Suri,Rampurhat and Bolpur. Thereafter, the Judicial Magistrate Court, Dubrajpur started functioning in the year, 1988. At present, this district comprises of three sub-division with the 34 courts discharging the justice delivery functions in the district. At present in the sadar sub-Division 14 (fourteen) Courts are functioning viz. the Court of the Ld. Principal District & Sessions Judge along with four Additional District & Sessions Judges, one Additional District & Session Judge (Fast Track Court), one Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Astt. Sessions Judge, one Chief Judicial Magistrate, one Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, three Courts Judicial Magistrates and two Civil Judge (Jr. Division).

    Similarly at Rampurhat Sub-divisional court complex 10 (ten) Court are functioning viz. The Ld. Court of one Additional District & Sessions Judge, one Additional District & Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court), two Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Astt. Sessions Judge, one Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, three Judicial Magistrates and Two Cvil Judge (Junior Division).

    Presently at Bolpur Sub-divisional court complex 7 (Seven) Court are functioning i.e the Court of one Additional District & Sessions Judge, one Civil Judge (Senior Division), one Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, two Judicial Magistrates and two Civil Judge (Junior Division).

    At Dubrajpur Chowki Court complex 3 (Three) Court are functioning i.e the Court of one Additional District & Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court), one Judicial Magistrate and one Civil Judge(Junior Division).
